Joe Biden promised us he would bring our country together, but to date he has done anything but that. He has opened the borders, reinstated “catch and release” without any health testing, let men play women’s sports, taken steps to insure we will not be energy independent for very long, and has effectively killed hundreds of thousands of jobs. He has also begun embracing a modified version of the “Green New Deal”, rejoined the Paris Climate Accord, rejoined the WHO, and has made overtures to Iran about re-entering the Iran Nuclear Deal. Three weeks in, he has done all of this not by going to Congress to get bi-partisan support, but by executive action.
He has also embraced the 2nd Trump Impeachment, saying that although he was exonerated by the Senate, he calls the charge of “Insurgency” as something that is not in dispute. It appears that along with the rest of his party, he is hell bent on destroying not only Donald Trump’s legacy, but the man himself. No holds barred, the Democrats will continue to come after President Trump with all guns still blazing, regardless of the truth. Next step will be the 14th Amendment, which has the possibility of eliminating the threat of Donald Trump ever running again for President, that is, if they can prove he started and is responsible for Insurrection. It will not work, but that is where the next move will be.
They will also attempt to Censure him in both houses. It is an attempt to ruin his reputation, but will not preclude him from running for office in 2024. They hope that will put him in a tenuous position where he will not consider doing so. Will they stop there? Think again!
The Democrats are now sharpening their pencils writing briefs to both civil and criminal courts to try DJT for various supposed crimes. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. has an active criminal investigation into Trump and his businesses. The exact contours of the probe are not clear, but court papers suggest he’s investigating possible insurance or financial fraud. On top of that, the most developed case that could ensnare Trump might be out of the Southern District of New York. It stems from the federal prosecution against Michael Cohen, Trump’s onetime personal attorney and fixer.
Cohen pleaded guilty to a range of crimes, including arranging illegal hush money payments to keep women silent during the 2016 campaign about extramarital affairs they say they had with Trump before he was president. Trump has denied the allegations.
The Democrats will not stop there. The state attorney general, Letitia James, is conducting a civil investigation into the Trump businesses. James is looking into whether the Trump Organization improperly inflated the value of its assets for loan or insurance purposes, and then deflated the value for tax purposes.
He also faces defamation lawsuits filed by two women who say he sexually assaulted them — allegations he denies. While Trump doesn’t face criminal liability in those suits, he does face potential damage to his reputation and financial repercussions.
The lawsuits will continue, with or most likely without any merit. They will only stop with a political calculation that President Trump will not run again. Until then, stay tuned, it is going to get crazier and crazier, and for President Trump, his post-Presidency legal bills will be enormous.
Is any of this unifying? No, exactly the opposite. The left is using their nuclear option with Donald Trump, and by default with anyone that has, or still does support him. President Biden is in the process of directing our Intelligence agencies to assist in his “War on Domestic Terror”. In effect, he has identified the 74+ million voters that voted for Trump as the target of the investigation. We, along with President Trump are in for a very rough ride, at least for 2 more years! Nothing unifying about that!
From a realistic standpoint, what can we as citizens do? First and foremost, we need election integrity. Each state has their own system for elections, and we know those systems, at least in some swing states, have been broken. We need to push our state legislatures to find a fix for what is broken, and implement said fix before the mid-terms. We also need to take control of local politics. Pay attention to our school districts, run and if you can’t support candidates that are of like mind. City and state elections need us to participate not only as voters but as candidates and/or supporters of candidates that are close to our political minds. We also need to primary officials that do not adequately represent us with candidates that will. It will take work, but if we put our minds to it, we will prevail!
