Hating the man, loving the results: Method to madness

President Trump is irritating.  He is loud, uncouth, and totally unconventional. He is an unfaithful husband. He aggrandizes his achievements, when his claims sometimes are easily disproved.  He constantly tweets whatever comes to his mind, and sometimes seems to contradict himself.  He holds rallies for his base that many citizens find embarrassing.  He is completely and unabashedly politically incorrect.  93% of press about him is negative.  He is unlike any other President in my memory.  In spite of all of these failings, he delivers, and delivers big!

He counters negative bias with his tweets.  In effect, his tweets get his messaging out, even if most mainstream media outlets refuse to honestly report his message.  He tweets on average 8.45X per day, and has 55+million followers. (twittercounter.com) He covers news he is focused on, highlights successes in his administration, and shows the direction of his thought process for governance in real-time.  Twitter activity effectively counteracts much of the negative press that he receives on a daily basis.  In fact, many of his tweets are embedded in the mainstream media’s story line, even though it is mostly twisted to a negative narrative. (Political.Law)  This seems to mostly backfire on the mainstream media.  Trump effectively forces the media to focus on subjects he wants.  In spite of their 93% negative reporting (Harvard Study), the President now has a 47% approval rating, which is 3 points higher than Obama had at the same time in his Presidency.(Newshub)  This in spite of the love affair that mainstream media had for President Obama during his first 2 years in office.

And then there are the rallies.  President Trump has made 10 general rallies since the start of his Presidency, and will have conducted 44 mid-term rallies by November 5th, giving a grand total of 54 rallies by that date.  These rallies do a great job of ginning up his base, which is important, especially in the light of the upcoming election. (en.wikpedia.org) His rallies are generally aired live on Fox News, which gives him a larger audience than just the sold-out stadiums where he holds these events.  With the amount of rallies he does, and with the co-operation of Fox News, these events are highly effective not only with his base, but with others that do not attend rallies but watch the #1 cable news network.  He has mastered the art of overcoming the negative news coverage of all the other media outlets very successfully.  He is also the only President ever to hold arena sized mid-term rallies, and its his gamble to make the mid-terms about him, rather than about local issues.  He takes this gamble on the wave of economic successes he has had in order to stem the tide of history that dictates the President’s party will lose congressional seats in the mid-term election.  (Forbes)

This is quite an impressive list for being in office for less than 2 years!  Lessening taxes

and regulations has supercharged the economy.   Getting rid of bad trade deals, and renegotiating

them to our advantage will pay off in the future.  Getting out of lopsided international agree-

ments was also a positive move.  His energy policy is leading us to energy independence, an

elusive goal that we have not achieved since the 1950’s!  He may go down in history as one of

the most prolific and successful Presidents in our history.
